I was already past what I needed for my second day word count, by day 4 I was up to the 7th day but now I've hit a plateau. It wasn't a story I was planning on writing but I like where it's going so far but even though I know where I want it, it's a long ways off from where I want to take it. I need motavation and I need an idea but I'm not really a planner- more of a pantser- as they say on the site.
I'm hoping I'll finish with the 50k but I also started dreading writing every night/morning because I started taking the challenge too seriously.
I have also challenged myself to stay off Facebook at least 6 months (preferably a year) but decided to log off permanently- that's going well. There have been a few times in the last week I logged into my husband's account only to check on the local news pages to see what is going on. Other than that, I've done no socializing on the site and my world isn't crumbling around me.. I have spent more time than I would like on reading blogs and articles on other sites but I'm taking it one step at a time- first Facebook and then I'll deal with logging online too much. At least I may revive this old blog..

Midnight tonight starts National Novel Writing Month.
Anyone who really knows me knows I love challenges and a few years back I ran across Nanowrimo.org.
Every year since, I have attempted the challenge. The first year I was a stay at home mom and beat the challenge. Last year I ended up finishing what ended up being a short story so I didn't "win" but I have the rough draft I've been working on editing and rewriting. This year should be my last easy year since I am pregnant and due in December and my older is in school. I am working this year but only part time and after school lets out so I have week day mornings and afternoons to work on writing (plus after she goes to bed every day.)
For anyone who isn't familiar with the website, the goal is to write 50k words towards a novel during the month of November. It tracks with a simple(ish) 1,000 some odd words a day.
My only problem is that I have used pretty much all my ideas (I have two finished rough drafts and part of a squirrel project I started right after I finished the rough draft of number 1)
I've always loved writing, I always wanted to write a book but never could get every thing down on paper. This challenge helped me figure out how to start and finish- which was something I've always had problems with.
My first project was sitting there for years before I decided to figure out the story behind the idea (series of dreams I had years ago) and get it out on paper. That project is my baby and I'm planning on trying the traditional route and get it published, if I can't or decide I would rather go a more independent route, I have an account on Lulu publishing and am planning on doing it that way.

Tomorrow will be 1 week since I deactivated
I have gone on my husband's account 2 or 3 times this week just to keep up with the local news stations pages but other than that, I have it blocked on my computer and haven't let myself use his phone.
I'm now considering whether or not I want to continue keeping it deactivated or delete it totally.
I have decided to reactivate for a day or two when I have the baby to announce she's been born but then get rid of it again until the 6 months is up. It hasn't been as hard as I thought.

I'm figuring if I do this publicly, I'll stick to it.
It really doesn't matter if anyone even reads this or not, maybe by making this public I'll stick with this.
I just deactivated my Facebook and I'm planning on giving it up for at least 6 months. It seems like no big deal to most people, but I've been getting sick of the site. "Friends" who like and share pictures and occasionally comment but hardly ever message you back, endless keyboard warriors and needless political debates, food posts and the occasional interesting blog posts- it wastes way too much time.
I have several reasons I'm trying out giving it up.
1. I'm 31 weeks pregnant
2. I waste too much of the school day (while my older is in school) online
3. It's starting to stress me out- I have already lost hope for the majority of the state/country after the endless political crap posted all over.
4. I have several side projects I'm working on and have been neglecting
5. Nanowrimo starts in about a week and I need to plan for it while juggling life, work and getting ready for maternity leave/the new baby.

Some random dream themes I had as a kid
My mom was
trying to get me to put all my poems in a book and get it published a
while back and I typed out the beginning of a book, had 60 pages written
and now my computer is trying to convert the file and it's just a bunch
of codes now. I found a notebook with a bunch of my poems and found a
dream I had recorded and a page with 3 characters I had in a dream a
while back.
The first had a coyote face and had a purple cloak that covered most of his face he had pitch black eyes.
He told me he was going to kill me and said "I don't do introductions, I do death."
The second
character was a skeletal figure with a black cloak and kept his hood
down. He had red glowing dots for eyes and told me he was a messenger
from "our home dimension."
The third was a
beautiful blonde woman who was 5'10'' and about a size 5 and VERY
seductive but she transformed into a huge black dragon with blood red
eyes.
These all came
to me in my sleep and I'm still not too sure what they were about. I'm
still working on that and have been for years.
Dreams dealing with the ex
Every
time someone enters a relationship, it leaves an impact on both
peoples' lives. It's almost certain they will have dreams from time to
time. Just because you dream about an ex, doesn't mean you want to get
back together or are still in love with the ex. You have to pay
attention to the details. I am married and had a dream he said he
wanted a divorce, I thought about getting back in touch with my ex as
soon as he said it and try to get back together with him but after a few
minutes, I rethought and my husband and I worked things out. In the
dream, it was telling me to stop thinking about the past and focus on
life now. I spoke on another site to a chick who dreamt that her ex
came and took her away while she was out with her walking life fiance.
In the dream she still felt like she loved him. In that dream, it seems
like she'd be still wanting to be with him but it is more likely she is
having doubts about being with her fiance or she may be subconsciously
be picking up red flags in ways he's similar to her ex. In retrospect,
she may still have feelings for the ex but it's more likely there is a
subconscious reason she doesn't want to be with him.
If you ever have a dream about an ex, never stress out and think that
it's trying to tell you you still love them, try to find the deeper
meaning behind it. Chances are it's trying to tell you to stop thinking
about the past or stop regretting something about the past. Other
times it maybe telling you you may want to reevaluate the relationship
you're in currently.
Dreams after having a Preemie
I belong to a
parents and friends of preemies group and one of the girls had a dream
dealing with being pregnant and having a healthy full term baby and
being able to breastfeed. She thought it was her mind saying it's ready
for another baby. That maybe the case but to me, it sounded like she
was dreaming about what she hopes happens with her next pregnancy, what
could happen or how she wished her old pregnancy went.
When I had just
had my daughter, I had multiple dreams about her having a twin sister
they missed who was born healthy on the due date. Unfortunately, she
disappeared and I only had the healthy baby. I was afraid it meant I
was going to lose her but now, as she's getting older, she's no longer
as sick and since she came home from the hospital, she's a new baby.
The dream was my subconscious telling me she'd be ok and her twin was
who she is going to grow into.
Dreams about
healthy, full term babies when you give birth to a preemie or a sick
baby is common. A lot of it is insecurity and some is out of sadness or
even depression. Sometimes, it deals with your mind trying to comfort
you and even show you how the baby is going to turn out. I saw a dying,
decayed baby coming at me with it's hand out reaching out to me asking
me for help for a long time as a guilt induced hallucination for a long
time after she was born before we knew for a fact she would be fine and
grow out of her health problems. Guilt is usually the biggest factor
behind a lot of post NICU baby dreams, along with hopeful thoughts about
future kids and scenarios your mind plays of healthy full term babies.
