I was already past what I needed for my second day word count, by day 4 I was up to the 7th day but now I've hit a plateau. It wasn't a story I was planning on writing but I like where it's going so far but even though I know where I want it, it's a long ways off from where I want to take it. I need motavation and I need an idea but I'm not really a planner- more of a pantser- as they say on the site.
I'm hoping I'll finish with the 50k but I also started dreading writing every night/morning because I started taking the challenge too seriously.
I have also challenged myself to stay off Facebook at least 6 months (preferably a year) but decided to log off permanently- that's going well. There have been a few times in the last week I logged into my husband's account only to check on the local news pages to see what is going on. Other than that, I've done no socializing on the site and my world isn't crumbling around me.. I have spent more time than I would like on reading blogs and articles on other sites but I'm taking it one step at a time- first Facebook and then I'll deal with logging online too much. At least I may revive this old blog..

Midnight tonight starts National Novel Writing Month.
Anyone who really knows me knows I love challenges and a few years back I ran across Nanowrimo.org.
Every year since, I have attempted the challenge. The first year I was a stay at home mom and beat the challenge. Last year I ended up finishing what ended up being a short story so I didn't "win" but I have the rough draft I've been working on editing and rewriting. This year should be my last easy year since I am pregnant and due in December and my older is in school. I am working this year but only part time and after school lets out so I have week day mornings and afternoons to work on writing (plus after she goes to bed every day.)
For anyone who isn't familiar with the website, the goal is to write 50k words towards a novel during the month of November. It tracks with a simple(ish) 1,000 some odd words a day.
My only problem is that I have used pretty much all my ideas (I have two finished rough drafts and part of a squirrel project I started right after I finished the rough draft of number 1)
I've always loved writing, I always wanted to write a book but never could get every thing down on paper. This challenge helped me figure out how to start and finish- which was something I've always had problems with.
My first project was sitting there for years before I decided to figure out the story behind the idea (series of dreams I had years ago) and get it out on paper. That project is my baby and I'm planning on trying the traditional route and get it published, if I can't or decide I would rather go a more independent route, I have an account on Lulu publishing and am planning on doing it that way.

Tomorrow will be 1 week since I deactivated
I have gone on my husband's account 2 or 3 times this week just to keep up with the local news stations pages but other than that, I have it blocked on my computer and haven't let myself use his phone.
I'm now considering whether or not I want to continue keeping it deactivated or delete it totally.
I have decided to reactivate for a day or two when I have the baby to announce she's been born but then get rid of it again until the 6 months is up. It hasn't been as hard as I thought.

I'm figuring if I do this publicly, I'll stick to it.
It really doesn't matter if anyone even reads this or not, maybe by making this public I'll stick with this.
I just deactivated my Facebook and I'm planning on giving it up for at least 6 months. It seems like no big deal to most people, but I've been getting sick of the site. "Friends" who like and share pictures and occasionally comment but hardly ever message you back, endless keyboard warriors and needless political debates, food posts and the occasional interesting blog posts- it wastes way too much time.
I have several reasons I'm trying out giving it up.
1. I'm 31 weeks pregnant
2. I waste too much of the school day (while my older is in school) online
3. It's starting to stress me out- I have already lost hope for the majority of the state/country after the endless political crap posted all over.
4. I have several side projects I'm working on and have been neglecting
5. Nanowrimo starts in about a week and I need to plan for it while juggling life, work and getting ready for maternity leave/the new baby.
